An RV Park in Northern MN Created by Family, For Family
We have had the privilege of living in Voyageurs country for our entire lives and raising three beautiful children here. Some of our fondest memories are the weekends that we spent camping on the islands of one of the local lakes, Namakan Lake.
As our children grew older and started working at resorts in Crane Lake, camping together became more challenging. That’s when we discovered the wonderful world of RV camping!
We stayed in an RV Park in Crane Lake and loved it so much, we decided to buy our own slice of beautiful wilderness – a piece of land that once belonged to Headquarters Resort.
A few years later, we decided to build our own park so that other families could experience the beauty of the Crane Lake area in the comfort of their own campers. We are honored to welcome you to Headquarters RV Park in northern MN. We hope it becomes your home away from home too!
History of Headquarters RV Campground
Headquarters RV Park is part of a long history of welcoming visitors to the north woods. Our RV park is built on the original site of Tourist Headquarters. It was a popular tourist stop established in 1942 by Al Ostlund and his Wife Agnes. Locals nicknamed it “The Corner.
In 1950, the land was sold to relatives --- Ivar and Alida Ostlund – who renamed it Headquarters Resort. Alida’s fantastic cooking and hospitality drew in many people. Headquarters remained a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike through the 50s and 60s.
The property eventually changed hands again and then closed in 1974. Butch and Jacque Eggen of Crane Lake purchased the property in 1990 with friends and created Headquarters, Inc, clearing the property for lot sales.
That’s when we found it. In 2010, we purchased the property, established and built Headquarters RV Park. We are proud to share in the legacy of hospitality for a new generation of visitors looking to experience the beauty of this special land.
